Congleton Pride is back! The event will take place in Congleton town centre on Saturday 21 August 2021. Keep an eye out here and in our Facebook group for more info as we finalise the last details.
We organised the first ever Congleton Pride event in July 2019. Divina de Campo gave us a performance to remember, and many other musical acts kept the excitement and atmosphere going all day while the public browsed round the stalls run by local LGBTQ-friendly organisations and businesses.
Our team chose to create Congleton Pride because we discovered that a lot of LGBTQ+ people in and around Congleton feel unsafe being themselves and expressing their sexual orientation / gender identity. Our hope has been to show everyone what the LGBTQ+ community is all about and give them a better understanding of it, in turn hopefully stopping any prejudice. We want all in Congleton to have Pride and feel safe here.
As well as our main Pride event in the summer we've been putting on a range of other things around the year, from Drag Night to an online pandemic-safe pub quiz and our pride flag themed maze game Prideworld! We recently conducted a survey about Congleton's LGBTQ+ community. If you'd like to suggest anything else we could do, or even join forces with us to help make those things happen, please get in touch or join one of our meetings...
