The Listening Project is a monthly talk that invites speakers to share true stories, insights, or reflections from their own lives.

Some are moving. Some are challenging. Some are funny. All offer a glimpse into another person’s life – and a chance for us to listen more carefully to each other.

The atmosphere is respectful and supportive. Speakers are never judged or interrupted, and listeners are encouraged to take in what they hear without needing to respond. It’s a space to hear things you might not normally hear, from people you might not normally meet.

Since starting at the United Reformed Church in Congleton, the event has helped build quiet connections in the community. People have told us they’ve felt less alone, more understood, or simply glad to hear a different point of view. The act of listening – without fixing or debating – can itself be powerful.

We’ll soon be moving to a new venue, and we’re excited to welcome new faces. Whether you’d like to speak, listen, or both, you’ll be welcome. Each event is free to attend, and refreshments are usually available.

Check back here soon for updates about our next date and venue. You can also follow us on social media for announcements.

If you have something you’d like to share, we’d love to hear from you.
